Friends! It's time we unite the WebRTC community to talk about our bright browser-based future ✊

If you haven't experienced the off-beat and collaborative setting of an unConference - you're in for a fun time!

What's an unConference, you say?

Basically, a bunch of geeks getting together, informally sharing experiences while having a good time.

For a start, there are no selected "speakers", only participants and no pre-defined schedule: We put you in the driver’s seat and let you host your own sessions, no matter how well known you are in the industry. Got something to share the audience could be interested in? Pitch your idea at the beginning of the event, where we will be creating the schedule together. If not, no worries! Just go with the flow and enjoy the sessions and networking.

Join us, won't you? ✌️ Florian & Sean

❓FAQ

Why you should join?
Everyone can be a speaker (not just the BIG names)

Like traditional conferences, unConferences give you a chance to network and learn.

unConferences put you in the driver’s seat and allow you to host your own sessions no matter how known you are in the industry.

You've got something to share the audience is interested in? Go for it!

Collaboration vs passive listening

At a conference, you spend most of your time passively listening. An unConference gives you the chance to share your own expertise and engage in conversation with a number of like-minded experts in your field. Here, you move beyond “networking” into “collaborating.”

Topics are 100% audience-driven

Sessions only get accepted based on the interest of the audience.

Not only is this freedom empowering, but it also ensures we make the best possible use of your time at the event. Each individual has their own needs and preferences, and an unConference allows you to shape the experience as you see fit.

You don’t have to stick to a schedule or attend any event that doesn’t interest you. Instead, you can move around freely, exploring the topics and ideas that you find most inspiring. You’re in complete control of your own experience.

New room for experimentation

Typically, this high-energy, unstructured set-up leads to an increased flow of innovative ideas. In this unfiltered exchange of ideas, you’ll likely make new connections and find inspiration. Most participants report leaving an unconference with more energy and excitement, as well as newfound tips, tricks, and ideas.

How do I attend the event?

Everyone is free to join a session based on the format and the attendee limit.

💡

See the schedule (filled during the planning session)

Sessions are either held in the Wonder conference space for up to 15 people or via Google Meet for bigger groups.

The unConf is held virtually and everyone is allowed to attend with prior registration.

Our tools:

How do I propose my idea/session?

We encourage everyone to host their own session!

During the initial planning session, everyone can propose/pitch their own session to the audience. Based on the interest it will be accepted to the schedule or not.

Afraid you need to deliver a "perfect speech"? Don't worry, even a quick 10 min discussion on a recent discovery is worth the fun. Be Brave! Others are interested in making your session work too! We are all in this together.

💡

You can also submit your idea before the event along with your registration, at any time via this form. Or just give us a shout via unconf@wonder.me to discuss your idea together.

Which tools are we using?
Who is coming & is it worth attending?

unConferences are very collaborative, experimentaland go beyond normal "networking".

Since the nature of an unConference doesn't allow us to predefine a schedule by design, we can't confirm what kind of sessions will be held before the audience has voted.

💡

We haven't set a limit 😇 We are aiming at anything between 50-300 people. Let's see!

How to share the event? 📢

The more people are joining the event, the more fun it's going to be 😇

  5. Et voila, we have our very own mini-conference ready!

Session Formats

  • It can be anything around WebRTC
  • Sessions can be 10-30 minutes long
  • Sessions are aimed at smaller groups to be more collaborative and fun vs passive conference formats.
  • The format can be anything like a simple group discussion, show & tell, interactive workshop, lighting talk - as experimental as you like!

Mindset & Principles

  • Whoever comes are the right people
  • Whatever happens is the only thing that could have happened
  • Don't be sad if your session is not getting accepted - you're here to enjoy the conference
  • Whenever it starts is the right time
  • When it is over it is over
  • The law of 2 Feet: You are free to come and go from sessions as you please. If you feel you are not learning or contributing in a session, use your feet to find a new one.
